Ever since President Trump has taken his seat in the Oval Office we have happily watched as he began his journey of disassembling Former President Barack Obama’s ridiculous policies. I can gladly report that Trump is on his way to overturning another one of Obama’s ideas as he is preparing to announce his plan to overturn Obama’s policies towards Cuba.
Western Journalism reported that John Kavulich or the nonpartisan U.S. Cuba Trade and Economic Council explained, “the Trump Administration has been ‘ready’ since February 2017 to announce changes, but issues unrelated to Cuba have intervened.”
Kavulich further explained that Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Bob Menendez, D-N.J., along with Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., have been working with the Trump administration out of the public eye to reverse the Obama administration’s approach towards Cuba.
Kavulich explained that the Trump administration will legislate“increased enforcement relating to travel,” as well as introduce “a focus upon discouraging transactions with entities controlled by the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) of the Republic of Cuba.” According to the U.S. Cuba Trade and Economic Council, the changes were to have been announced in June.
Marco Rubio was very open about his disapproval towards Former President Barack Obama’s choice to put a stop to the 50-year trade embargo against Cuba. He accused Obama of indirectly helping the Castro regime. (A scary thought for American citizens.)
“We could have used, and can use, economic sanctions through the embargo as a leverage to gain democratic concessions and openings for the Cuban people in exchange for alleviating some of these conditions, especially the diplomatic recognition and the removal of Cuba from the state sponsor of terrorism list,” Rubio was quoted saying in July of 2015. “The Cubans have basically achieved all of those concessions and in return have done nothing to change … The only thing that will change is the amount of money the regime will have access to.”
President Trump explained that he and Rubio “have very similar views on Cuba” this past February. No matter how much Republicans disagree with one another, almost all of them can agree that Barack Obama did so much damage to our country, his dealings with Cuba just being one of them.
“I am confident that President Trump will treat Cuba like the dictatorship it is and that our policy going forward will reflect the fact that it is not in the national interest of the United States for us to be doing business with the Cuban military,”Marco Rubio stated.
I, for one, am thrilled to see that President Trump is following through with his promises to reverse as much of the damage that Barack Obama did to our country as possible. He is taking so many steps in the right direction, that we can already start to see the positive effects in our great nation. Let’s hope that President Trump continues on the path that he has paved for himself and truly makes America great again.
